An Auxin Switch Controlling Timing of Anther Dehiscence

Fertilization is the key for seed production and therefore factors contributing to successful fertilization are very important. Male sterility is caused not only because of the lack of viable pollen but also due to failure of anther opening (anther dehiscence) to release functional pollen on the stigma. Anther dehiscence is a multistep process requiring localized cell differentiation and degeneration and timely interplay of various phytohormones as well, in this talk I will shade some light on the role of auxin in anther dehiscence.
